Movie Download Websites – A Reality Check

I think we’ve all come across movie download websites that promise “unlimited downloads” of your selected movies. For what appears to be a reasonable fee, some give a yearly or lifetime membership rights that allows you to acquire thousands of films, ranging from classics to recent blockbusters. And it is all available right from the ease of your own PC! Sounds like a good deal, right? solarmovie

And better yet, several of these movie download websites promise you these great films in high DVD MOVIE quality, or a format suitable for your Sony SONY PSP, iPod, or entertainment system. Some don’t just offer movies, but music too! As well as for an one time membership fee? This appears too good to be true!

And unfortunately, it is.

Although I don’t have had a chance to check into all of these movie download websites, I’ve done some digging on a popular one called The Movie Downloads (I are unable to provide the full website link for legal reasons, but you can Google it and read about it for yourself. Anyway, the site is very slick-looking, well-organized, and simple to read site that appears to plainly spell out everything it offers, from FAQs to tech support. By the professional layout of the homepage, it certainly appears legit.

Keep reading, and find out why you’ll think that an idiot if you sign up…

What it claims: They boast unrestricted downloads, a variety of movies and music, and a variety of formats to choose from (. avi, divx,. mov,. mp3, etc). The service claims to be spyware/virus free (for those using Windows), and for mac users, The Motion picture Downloads says it’s totally mac friendly.

They even offer software (if you need it) to burn up the files you down load onto CDs and Digital video disks. With a tech support system in place, this site will refund your money if you’re not satisfied for any reason.

Almost all that’s left so that you can do is sign up for their service, choose the membership option that’s best for you, then pay the $49. 99 charge. From there, you should have instant access.

What really happens: Once if you’re in, you define yourself as a mac or PC user, then choose whether or not you aren’t an “Advanced” or “Beginner” user. For “Advanced” users, you are directed to download uTorrent (Windows) or Tomato Torrent (Mac).

Here is the dumb part…

Courses like uTorrent and TomatoTorrent (other than having foolish names) are already available on the web for free! If you selected “Beginner” user, if you’re simply given to down load Limewire, which is also free!. The bottom range is this: You never had to drop $49. 99 in the first place!

Moral of the storyplot: Movie download websites including the Movie Downloads trap those people who are a little less web/tech savvy simply by convincing them to pay cash for stuff that’s available totally free.

Lesson #1 is this: Don’t believe free movie download websites offering films/music/pictures/porn/beer free of charge. It ain’t about to happen. Even if you see the occasional “free movie download” links on the Google advertisings shown on my very own site, prevent them and click something else.

Class #2: Even if you are one step forward of the crooks and are already an expert in using bit-torrent or P2P software, watch your back. Downloading gobs of movies, TV shows, and music using bit . torrent sites/services such as can get you into a heap of legal trouble. Sure, thousands of other people (mostly kids) are doing it, they feel the thrill of “beating the system, ” enjoy bragging about it, and the authorities don’t have the resources to cops the complete internet (not yet, at least).

But every once in a while someone gets caught. And it’s ugly. And those who get busted never thought they would. Is definitely it worth it?

I am just not telling you to stick to legitimate pay sites like Netflix or iTunes because I have advertisings for them jogging on my website (I only endorse products/services that I actually use myself), but those companies are legal, affordable, and reliable. Maybe it’s not “cool” to play by the guidelines, but last I checked out it’s not very “cool” to get slapped with a lawsuit either.
